Beverage-makers offer wide choice

Ottawa Citizen

RE: Weight loss is a matter of biology, not willpower, May 19.

To make a disparaging comparison between an industry that produces hydrating non-alcoholic beverages and another (tobacco) is nonsensical. Beverage manufacturers in Canada offer a wide range of products. Roughly 50 per cent of our members’ products in Canada contain no sugar and few or no calories, and full-calorie beverages are available in a wide range of package sizes, allowing people to choose beverages that meet their hydration needs, dietary and flavour preferences.

Jim Goetz, president, Canadian Beverage Association
